Given the current interactions between humans and the natural environment—that is, within socio-ecological systems—what are the risks we face, and what is our capacity to persist through time and across space? This is the central question guiding the research carried out by this group at various temporal and spatial scales, as we work to quantify risks, vulnerabilities, and the resilience of such systems. To this end, the IpES group relies on a highly interdisciplinary team, including ecologists, mathematicians, physicists, meteorologists, and social scientists. We welcome all those who identify as enthusiasts, eager to understand and investigate the interactions and mechanisms that drive change and transformation on our planet, and to help propose solutions for a more just and harmonious future.
